Established NEC Tohoku for the purpose of mass production of Wire spring relay (Ichinoseki city, Iwate prefecture).

Demand for wire spring relays increased with the expansion of crossbar telephone exchanges.
Achieved 160 million wire spring relay production.

Started production of the MR301, which is the prototype of the current power relay.

Started production and shipment of the world's first twin relay.

Established NEC Components Philippines, inc. (currently EMD Technologies Philippines Inc.) in the Philippines.

Relay business has been spun off from NEC Tohoku.
Established NEC TOKIN Iwate Co., Ltd. -

Started production of EX series (the blockbuster product)
(EX series production exceeded 2.4 billion units in 2021.) -
